*This post is part of a larger presentation performed in front of a live studio audience π
In ALL cases you will either be using the Aurasma app (& Tap the magnifying icon at the bottom of the screen in the Aurasma App, search for & follow the Thrasymachus, Compher Social Sciences, and Northwest HS Channels) or the Yo2Mo app to view the images, videos, resources, lessons, etc. we (or others) have layered over the following jpegs. This is “Layered Learning” at its best. This is the ARevolution!
You can find the Prezi presentation here.
Be sure to download the Aurasma and Apparmo “Yo2Mo Window” apps. Both are powered by Aurasma, but each will allow you to see different images below come to life. Remember, just like Twitter, you must follow our channels to see the magic happen.
Aurasma will be needed for our created auras and the “Yo2Mo” app will be needed for the commercial images you’ll see below.
In either case, I AM NOT responsible for your mind being blown. Take care.
These were my first incredible experiences with augmented reality. Focus your Aurasma enabled device on the two bills.
The following are Yo2Mo goodies that can be accessed using their “Window” app which is powered by Aurasma. I’ve also left more images and handouts on each of your tables.
My students did a demographic study of Florida and made a video acting as campaign managers who suggested to their candidate how best to win the state in the 2016 Presidential election. We layered their videos on the “F”, the “R”, the “sun” and the “A”.
Here, students have their U.S. Constitution assignment posted in the hallway. Using Aurasma and augmented reality, a video is layered on their fine work as they reflect on their work. They speak on what they learned and what stuck out most to them during their project.
Teaching valence electrons? Check out the following. Tap on the Lithium atom to be transported to the assignment.
Marginal utility is a difficult concept for many of my seniors to grasp. Using Aurasma, students watch the video and come to understand why I used the image below. Double tap the video and bring the video to full screen. Single tap the video and you’ll be sent to the students assignment based on the video!
One of my favorite assignments. Watch the Hamlet video, Double tap the video to bring it to full screen and tap on the screen at its conclusion to be sent to the assignment. Then complete the assignment on the Google document!
Here is a cold graph concerning India’s poverty. An image appears to bring life to the realities of the data. Tap and be sent to a webpage to help poor children. Augmented Reality can make the world a better place!
This one is simply fun. Watch the cat appear. Then tap it and watch one of my favorite entertaining videos ever!
This one has over 24 layered placed on it. Each planet can either be single tapped or double tapped to send students to different videos or resources. Tap the bottom left hand corner for our contact information. Tap the black areas for special surprises!!!
Watch the video. Single tap it to make it full screen. Double tap the video to be sent to Jill’s A.P. Psychology class assignment.
“The Big Event” is Northwest High School’s way of giving back to the community. Double tap the screen to bring the video to the fore and single tap to sign up to help your local community.
This Aura helps build school moral and a feeling of community. Every place you see our school’s seal, through Aurasma, you get to hear our school song.
This Aura brings up examples of supply and demand curves. What needs to be made more engaging than economics!? *Apologies to Mr. Deel and Mr. Harris.
Instead of reading about boring biomes in a text book, use this Aura and have students actually visit each of the biomes in person! One of my favorite Auras!
Have you ever been to Paris, France? Use Aurasma on this image and you can claim you have. Can you image an elementary school aged class looking at the world through this Aura?!?!?!
