Don’t you DARE close your eyes: Combining Aurasma and Sphere App

Every time I discover, on my own or through others, a new use for Aurasma I mysteriously hear a line from that song in the Disney movie, Aladdin, “A whole new world, don’t you DARE close your eyes” and happy-cry myself to sleep so I can dream up even more uses for the app.

But seriously, folks, this app is insane.

Check out this combination of two pretty cool apps: @Aurasma and @SphereTeam ( the app is simply called Sphere).

For the uninitiated, Sphere is another awesome app that allows you to take 360 degree panoramic shots anywhere on the planet and share them. It seriously looks like you are standing smack dab in the middle of, in this case, Paris! It wasn’t specifically developed to be an education app, but guess what?! We’re using it that way, here in Texas, and that’s how we roll…

Follow the “Thrasymachus” channel on Aurasma and take a look at the following image to see what I’m talking about. Viva Aurasma. Viva Sphere. Viva France. Viva la difference!

There are no public auras in the #CoopGovt channel! This has the potential to be really awesome! Can you make it public?

  2. Robert says:

Works perfectly! Awesome Aura! I’m going to share it with my teachers tomorrow.

having fun with aurasma and feeling like I’d like to try to add tourwrist but how do you add the embedded code? I’m a high school guidance counselor and trying to create some “Fun” presentations for students

    • Thrasymachus says:

Great Question. Sorry I didn’t address it in my post. First you’ll go to http://www.tourwrist.com Then, you will click on the “pano” you want to feature (either yours or those posted by others. Next, you’ll simply copy the URL (not the embed code) into the Aurasma URL field (in Aurasma Studio). Save and test it out. There is one hiccup I’ve noticed. If the “pano” is part of a group of “panos” or “tours”, then thumbnails will appear at the very top or side of the Aurasma Overlay. It isn’t a huge distraction, but it takes up a little bit of the available screen. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any other questions. Send screen shots of your finished product as well, if you’d like. Good Luck!

I’m using an Ipad and I’m unable to find anywhere to paste the URL in Aurasma Studio. Do I need an upgraded version or something?

  7. Jenn S says:

Hi, Do you set it for ‘blank overlay’ in Aurasma Studio and then double tap to website? What do you put in the overlay section?

  8. Jenn S says:

THANK YOU very much for your time! I have it figured out (for now)!
